I read any interesting article about this recently, a very useful article that gave me lots of good ideas...but...it did get me thinking because the number one app they had for sales people was "Slack." Now admittedly I am not a big user of Slack, and I do think it is a good app but no way is it the number one app for sales people.
Here is my take on what I consider the best apps for any sales people.
I think any tool that would enable you to stay updated with business news, see what is of interest to your prospects and clients. Then comment on what they are seeing, share other content with them.....and look for new prospects....and connect with them..by sharing content or via a simple message would be an amazing app. And that of course exists in the form of the LinkedIn app. It must be considered the number one app.
Gmail
Second on the list would be Gmail...the ability to communicate with clients anytime, anywhere is so much taken for granted. However it wasn't always that way...and it still never ceases to amaze me how underutilised or undervalued a perfectly crafted email is...especially when using from anywhere and at any time. Note I have never understood the desire for users to tell other users that they are using their phone to reply to them (Common on the iphone). Does it really matter where your prospect thinks you are? I think in some cases it provides an excuse for a less than professional email. There are no excuses at all for that!
CRM
The third app for me would be what ever CRM you are using being available in an app form. The ability to have client details and conversations all recorded in one app it is invaluable. With these three "Superhero" apps. LinkedIn, Gmail and Capsule CRM (for me) I have my business with me all day.
Beyond those three, these are the next ones I would recommend.
Zoom
Zoom or some equivalent conferencing app. I think we have all used Google Hangouts (Meetings), Skype and others - all are good. My personal favorite is Zoom because of its reliability and quality or transmission and now during the current coronavirus situation more and more customers are familiar with it so the go to app is now Zoom I think. " I will send you a Zoom invite" is now almost the default conversation when confirming a meeting.
Evernote / Google Keep
I have used both of these apps, and to be honest still can not make up my mind which is best, so I have ended up using both. Google Keep is quick and easy to use and I often record or jot down quick notes there. If I am doing more extensive research on a project, with a variety of impots, graphics, text, videos, links etc I will tend to use Evernote. Either way a busy sales professional needs to have a place to record notes. I even record planning and meeting conversations here too.
Google Drive / Dropbox
A necessity for sharing files with clients on the go. I hate not being able to send information and files to client when I am out of the office. Everything should be geared towards sending clients the information they need exactly when they want it - as far as possible. It's really all about making the client's journey easy - not ours.
Invaluable for me to store articles that I don't have time to read during the day, or I do have time I just don't want to interrupt my day. I will save this for those downtimes when travelling between meetings (Remember those). Or in between tasks when I am out of the office. Its not just about reading self improvement material, but also material that you can share with clients that will help them.
XE Currency Converter
Sounds a silly one but incredibly useful to be able to switch quickly to local currencies, something I find very useful.
Whats App / Facebook Messenger / WeChat
This should really be much higher up in the list. I have so many clients connecting via Whats App now it is becoming vitally important. And while in the past I would disconnect from my laptop when working in the office so that I will not be disturbed by friend's messages. I am increasingly receiving message from clients - and if they are sending via a messenger app they expect a reply straight away. This for me is a really good sign that you have engaged prospect if you are able to communicate with them on these platforms.
So these are my top 9 apps, let me know what you think?
